Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, or mathematics. With over 3 years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics, you are well-versed in the intricacies of data management and analysis. Your expertise includes forecasting and statistical analysis, which allows you to identify trends and make informed decisions based on data. You are proficient in data visualization tools like Tableau and Quicksight, enabling you to present complex data in an understandable format. Additionally, you have experience in data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines, which are crucial for effective data management. Your scripting skills in Python allow you to automate processes and improve efficiency in your work.

Desirable

Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems is a plus, as it aligns with the high-performance, fault-tolerant systems you will be working with. Familiarity with performance testing and resource utilization analysis will help you excel in this role, as you will be responsible for identifying variables impacting performance and scalability.

What you'll do

As a Business Intelligence Engineer in the Search Capacity team, you will collaborate closely with service owners in engineering and operations to understand the Amazon Search service in depth. Your primary responsibility will be to scale the service effectively, ensuring it meets the demands of millions of customers worldwide. You will identify and track key performance metrics around efficiency and costs, which will inform your capacity planning and resource management decisions. Managing planning, ordering, and budgeting for hardware and computational resources will be a critical part of your role. You will also develop and improve tools for automating these responsibilities wherever possible, enhancing the overall efficiency of the team. Analyzing resource utilization and performance test data will be essential for identifying variables that impact performance and scalability. You will develop models for required hardware resources to meet current and future service level agreements (SLAs), ensuring that the Amazon Search service remains reliable and efficient.
