Internship - Machine Learning (Foundation Models)

Who you are

You are a PhD student in Machine Learning or a related field, with a strong background in Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning. You have hands-on experience training large models, particularly large language models (LLMs), and are familiar with training methodologies including pre-training, fine-tuning, and alignment approaches. Your programming skills are robust, with proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and JAX being most relevant to this role. You possess excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can define and drive ambitious, goal-oriented research and development independently.

What you'll do

During your internship at Apple, you will engage in research and development focused on foundation models that enhance AI experiences across Apple's platforms. You will collaborate closely with an applied ML team of around 30 engineers in Zurich, contributing to the development of novel approaches for improving foundation model capabilities. Your work will involve leveraging large-scale reinforcement learning methods to enhance reasoning and evaluation processes. You will also learn how to transfer results from machine learning research into meaningful real-world applications at scale, ensuring that your contributions can be effectively integrated into Apple's products.
