We are looking for a Hardware & Lab Development Manager to lead this exciting new innovative program globally. We build the automated products to measure the customer experience and digital products performance on the devices around the world.

We are seeking an experienced Hardware & Lab Development Manager to lead, hire and expand a team of Hardware/Support/Lab Development Engineers. You will focus on driving the next wave of innovation to measure the digital experience in terms of latency and quality. You will lead the team to expand the automation with AWS IoT, and strive for exposing the visual/audio analytic capability as self-service. You will lead the team to leverage AI and quantitative analysis to challenge conventional wisdom with hard data. You will lead the team to build and operate labs (across 3 regions) to provide high availability lab infrastructure.

Together, we will develop the flywheel that deeply understands our customers and delights them with results.

Key job responsibilities
- Build a best-in-class hardware and lab engineering team that delivers excellent results through rapid iterations
- Design and develop state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems
- Cultivate engineering and operational excellence through metrics and continuous learning
- Develop long-term strategy for your programs and translate it into roadmaps and action plans
- Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
- Mentor and grow ICs to take on increasingly higher responsibilities

A day in the life
As a Hardware and Lab Development Manager, you will build and lead a successful engineering team and influence product/design/engineering decisions related to feature requirements. You will work with stakeholders and leadership to align on launch plan details and timelines. Your role has a high impact on the overall product success and drives the flywheel of delighting customers with high-quality product and earning their trust.

About the team
Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) is an organization made up of a diverse suite of functions dedicated to deeply understand and improve customer experience, globally. We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings - for almost every business at Amazon - for every customer (e.g., consumers, developers, sellers/brands, employees, investors, streamers, gamers).

Our approach is based on determining the customer need, along with problem solving, and we work backwards from there. We use technical and non-technical approaches and stay aware of industry and business trends. We are a global team made up of diverse set of profiles, skills, and backgrounds - including: Product Managers, Software Developers, Computer Vision experts, Solutions Architects, Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, Business Analysts, Risk Managers, and more.- 7+ years of hardware and lab engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of hardware Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in maintaining lab facilities for optimal efficiency and creating new processes.
- Excellent communication and writing skills. Resourceful and quick to take initiative.
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Communications, Computer Engineering or similar.
- Experience in networking fundamentals and ability to troubleshoot issues with related tools (e.g., ICMP, traceroute, netstat, pcap, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
