You have a strong background in backend engineering, with experience in building and deploying production systems that handle complex challenges. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to develop robust solutions that enhance the performance of autonomous driving technology. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to address real-world problems and improve user experiences. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and can prototype solutions that are both safe and reliable. Your analytical mindset helps you to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation in mission-critical systems.
Experience with autonomous systems or related technologies is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud platforms and data processing frameworks. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of the Fleet Response team's operations.
In this role, you will collaborate with various teams to support self-driving vehicles in complex situations, ensuring that the Waymo Driver operates safely and efficiently. You will prototype and deploy solutions that address real-world challenges, working closely with the Fleet Response Operations team to enhance their capabilities. Your work will involve developing mission-critical systems that require a deep understanding of both on-vehicle and off-vehicle resources. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality service for riders, leveraging your technical skills to improve the overall performance of the Waymo Driver.
You will also engage in continuous learning and development, staying updated on the latest advancements in autonomous driving technology. Your contributions will directly impact the safe deployment of Waymo's technology, making a difference in the lives of riders and the broader community. You will participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's best practices, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $170,000—$216,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
