Overview

Twilio is seeking a Senior Engineer for Security Automation to enhance their Information Security Team's efficiency through automation. You'll work with technologies like Python, AWS, and Docker to improve security workflows. This role requires experience in security automation and software development.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on security automation — your experience includes working with security teams to gather requirements and design technical solutions that enhance security workflows. You are proficient in Python and have a solid understanding of cloud environments, particularly AWS, which allows you to build and maintain secure applications. Your familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Terraform enables you to automate deployment processes effectively.

You have experience with CI/CD practices and tools, ensuring that security measures are integrated into the software development lifecycle. Your knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible helps you maintain consistent security configurations across environments. You are comfortable using Git for version control and understand the importance of maintaining a secure codebase. Your expertise in Linux systems allows you to navigate and secure various environments effectively.

You are passionate about security and continuously seek to improve your skills and knowledge in this area — you stay updated on the latest security threats and best practices, ensuring that your work contributes to a safer digital environment. You thrive in a remote-first culture and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams to achieve common goals.

Desirable

Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards is a plus, as it helps you align security practices with organizational policies. Familiarity with incident response and threat detection tools enhances your ability to respond to security incidents swiftly and effectively.

What you'll do

As a Senior Engineer in Security Automation at Twilio, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of the Information Security Team. You will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and on-call support. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement automated workflows that support various security programs, ensuring that security measures are integrated seamlessly into the development process.

You will collaborate closely with security teams to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions that automate critical security tasks. This may involve creating scripts and tools that streamline security assessments, vulnerability management, and incident response processes. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating existing automation tools to ensure they remain effective against evolving security threats.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will contribute to the overall security culture at Twilio by sharing knowledge and best practices with your colleagues. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and help them develop their skills in security automation and software development.

What we offer

Twilio offers a remote-first work environment that fosters collaboration and inclusion. You will be part of a vibrant team that values diverse experiences and perspectives, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on the company's security posture. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your passion for security and willingness to learn are what matter most.

We provide competitive compensation and benefits, including opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization. Join us at Twilio and help shape the future of communications while ensuring the security of our systems and data.
