You'll provide practical advice on employment law issues and assist in litigation matters. This role requires strong legal judgment and experience in a corporate environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an experienced Employment & Litigation Counsel with a pragmatic approach to legal challenges. You have a strong background in employment law and litigation, ideally with 5+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment. You possess excellent judgment and can balance compliance with business objectives effectively. You thrive in a collaborative setting, working closely with HR and other departments to provide legal support. You are solutions-oriented and can navigate complex legal issues with ease. Your communication skills allow you to convey legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders, ensuring that all parties understand the implications of legal advice. You are adaptable and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

In this role, you will serve as the primary legal advisor to the People team, providing day-to-day support on various employment law issues, including hiring practices, performance management, and workplace concerns. You will consult on and draft employment-related agreements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will partner with the Senior Counsel to support litigation and regulatory matters, assisting in fact-finding, legal research, and negotiations. Your responsibilities will include developing risk assessments and litigation strategies that align with business priorities. You will also support the creation of templates and corporate policies to streamline legal processes across the organization. Your role will require you to stay updated on employment law trends and changes, ensuring that Squarespace remains compliant in all jurisdictions.

You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals and contribute to the development of best practices in employment law. The company values work-life balance and provides a hybrid work model, allowing you to work from the NYC headquarters 2-3 days a week. You will be part of a culture that encourages professional growth and development, with opportunities to expand your legal expertise in various areas of law. Squarespace is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and supported.
