Gorgias is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for their Site Reliability Engineering team to drive the reliability and security of their platform. You'll work with technologies like Kubernetes and AWS to manage core infrastructure. This role requires significant experience in engineering management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in engineering management, particularly in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps environments — you've successfully led teams that maintain high-availability systems and understand the intricacies of infrastructure management. Your leadership style fosters collaboration and innovation, ensuring that your team feels empowered to tackle challenges and improve processes.

You possess deep technical expertise in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and have hands-on experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes — you understand how to optimize resource usage and ensure system reliability at scale. Your background includes managing large-scale databases and implementing best practices for incident management and response.

You are committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within your team — you believe that diverse perspectives drive better decision-making and innovation. You are also experienced in mentoring engineers, helping them grow in their careers while achieving team goals.

Desirable

Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or Prometheus would be a plus — you understand the importance of proactive monitoring in maintaining system health. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools is also beneficial, as you will be driving automation and efficiency in deployment processes.

What you'll do

As the Senior Engineering Manager for the SRE team at Gorgias, you will lead efforts to enhance the reliability and security of our platform — your role will involve overseeing the management of our core infrastructure and services, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in incident management, ensuring that our systems are resilient and can recover quickly from failures.

You will be responsible for driving the adoption of automation and delivery practices across the engineering organization — this includes implementing CI/CD pipelines and improving deployment processes to reduce downtime and enhance service delivery. Your leadership will be crucial in establishing a culture of continuous improvement within the SRE team.

You will also play a key role in capacity planning and performance optimization — by analyzing system performance metrics, you will identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that enhance our platform's scalability and reliability. Your insights will help shape the technical direction of our infrastructure as we continue to grow.
