You'll work with technologies like Java, Python, and AWS to enhance incident response and customer insights. This role requires significant experience in software engineering and observability practices.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on observability and monitoring systems. Your background includes working with telemetry data and you understand how to make it structured, accessible, and actionable. You are proficient in programming languages such as Java and Python, and have experience with cloud platforms like AWS. You are familiar with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, which you have used to deploy and manage applications at scale.

You possess a deep understanding of observability tools and practices, including monitoring and alerting frameworks like Grafana and Prometheus. You have a knack for identifying performance bottlenecks and are skilled in optimizing systems for better reliability and efficiency. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and you are comfortable communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience with incident response and management processes is a plus, as is familiarity with AI technologies that enhance observability. You are always eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, and you thrive in a remote-first work environment where you can contribute to a diverse team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on Twilio’s Platform Observability team, you will play a critical role in transforming how telemetry flows through the organization. You will be responsible for re-architecting the observability framework to ensure that it meets the needs of the business and enhances incident response capabilities. Your work will directly impact how teams utilize telemetry data to gain insights into customer experiences and operational efficiency.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to define the requirements for observability tools and systems. Your expertise will guide the design and implementation of solutions that improve the accessibility and usability of telemetry data across the platform. You will also contribute to the development of best practices for monitoring and incident management, ensuring that the team is equipped to respond quickly and effectively to any issues that arise.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them grow in their careers. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering processes within the team. Your contributions will help shape the future of Twilio’s observability capabilities, making a significant impact on the organization’s ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

What we offer
