SeleniumJavaJUnitTest automation

Overview

Guidepoint is hiring a QA Automation Engineer II to design and maintain test automation frameworks. You'll work with Java and Selenium to automate testing processes. This position requires experience in test automation and software quality assurance.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a solid background in quality assurance with a focus on automation — your experience includes designing and maintaining test automation frameworks that enhance software quality and efficiency. You are proficient in Java and have hands-on experience with Selenium, which allows you to automate test cases effectively. Your analytical skills enable you to analyze test results and determine root causes of issues, guiding prioritization for resolution. You understand the importance of thorough documentation and process improvements, and you communicate technical issues clearly to both engineering leadership and business stakeholders.

You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with other engineering team members — you thrive in environments where you can share knowledge and learn from others. Your commitment to keeping abreast of technology trends ensures that you incorporate the latest advancements into your work, making your contributions both innovative and impactful. You are dedicated to continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance the testing process.

Desirable

Experience with load testing tools and methodologies would be a plus, as would familiarity with additional programming languages or testing frameworks. If you have a background in training others on automated test tools and frameworks, that would further enhance your fit for this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain a robust test automation framework that supports the seamless delivery of Guidepoint's services. You will automate test cases and develop reusable and maintainable automated scripts, ensuring that the software meets high-quality standards. Your responsibilities will include analyzing issues related to automated testing, researching and proposing solutions, and enhancing previously recorded automated scripts to improve their effectiveness.

You will analyze test results meticulously to determine the severity and scope of issues, which will guide prioritization for resolution. Regular software defect tracking and regression updates will be part of your routine, and you will present status and technical reports as required. Additionally, you will assist in planning, developing, and delivering training related to automated test tools and frameworks, contributing to the overall skill development of the engineering team.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with other engineering team members and departments to address technical issues and updates. You will also be responsible for maintaining thorough documentation and templates, ensuring that process improvements are communicated effectively across the team. Keeping up with technology trends and advancements in your areas of specialization will be essential, as you will incorporate these improvements into your work to enhance the testing process.

What we offer

Guidepoint offers a hybrid work environment based out of Toronto, allowing you to balance in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility. You will be part of a diverse team that values different perspectives and experiences, contributing to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your curiosity and willingness to learn are just as important as your technical skills. Join us in our mission to make individuals, businesses, and the world smarter through personalized knowledge-sharing solutions.
