SpaceX is seeking a Senior Turbomachinery Engineer to design and develop next-generation turbopumps for the Raptor engine. You'll work with AutoCAD and MATLAB to ensure high-performance designs. This role requires extensive experience in turbomachinery engineering.
You have a strong background in turbomachinery engineering with a focus on rocket propulsion systems — your experience includes designing and developing turbopumps for liquid-fueled rocket engines. You possess a deep understanding of coupled aerodynamic and hydrodynamic design principles, and you can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. Your analytical skills are complemented by proficiency in tools like AutoCAD and MATLAB, which you use to create detailed designs and perform mechanical analyses. You are committed to meeting aggressive manufacturing goals while ensuring cost-effectiveness and weight optimization in your designs. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are driven by the challenge of pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology.
Experience with rocket propulsion systems and a solid grasp of mechanical analysis techniques will set you apart. Familiarity with the specific requirements of aerospace manufacturing processes is a plus, as is a passion for space exploration and innovation.
In this role, you will lead the design and development of turbopumps for the Raptor engine, taking designs from initial concept through to flight qualification. You will own critical turbomachinery components, ensuring that every aspect of the design meets stringent performance and reliability standards. Your responsibilities will include conducting hydrodynamic sizing and flowpath design for impellers and diffusers, as well as performing detailed mechanical analyses on all turbopump components. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are feasible and can be produced efficiently. Additionally, you will review technical drawings and specifications, providing insights and recommendations to enhance design quality and manufacturability. Your work will directly contribute to the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is at the forefront of aerospace innovation. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technologies that will shape the future of space exploration. You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources, and you will be encouraged to push the limits of your engineering skills. Join us in our mission to make life multi-planetary and be part of a culture that values creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
