Coupang is seeking a Staff Back-end Engineer to innovate and build systems that enable reliable order fulfillment in their Fulfillment Centers. You'll work with technologies like Java, Spring, and AWS to enhance the e-commerce experience. This role requires significant backend engineering experience.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of debugging distributed systems. Your expertise in Java and Spring is deep — you’ve shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture and testing strategies.
You are familiar with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and understand how to leverage them to build efficient systems. Your experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes allows you to create robust deployment pipelines. You have a solid understanding of databases, especially PostgreSQL, and can optimize queries for performance.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. Your communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. You are driven by a desire to innovate and improve processes, always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience.
