Overview

Google is seeking a Software Engineer II to work on modern Node and Linux-based operating systems. You'll develop next-generation technologies and work with programming languages like Python, C, C++, Java, and JavaScript. This role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of software development experience.

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree or have equivalent practical experience, and you have at least 1 year of experience in software development using one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript. Your understanding of data structures and algorithms is solid, and you have experience in concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization, or distributed systems programming. You have a good grasp of the Linux ecosystem and are eager to tackle complex problems in a collaborative environment.

You are versatile and display leadership qualities, ready to take on new challenges across the full-stack as Google continues to push technology forward. You bring fresh ideas from various areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile development. You thrive in a dynamic environment and are excited about the opportunity to work on projects critical to Google’s needs.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale systems and a passion for developing technologies that impact billions of users is a plus. Familiarity with Google Cloud and its enterprise-grade solutions will be beneficial as you work on extending NodeOS capabilities and engineering open-source components.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer II at Google, you will be involved in analyzing, designing, implementing, and automating rollouts of large-scale computer systems. You will troubleshoot existing systems and redesign or refactor them to improve performance and parallelism. Your role will also include improving existing integration and canary tests, as well as developing monitoring and metrics to ensure system reliability.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet user needs.
