Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Production Operations (ProdOps) is the cornerstone of Project Kuiper's manufacturing capability, responsible for building and delivering the satellite constellation that will provide high-speed, low-latency broadband across the globe.

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and operations teams are tasked with producing thousands of satellites and customer terminals at scale while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.

As the Principal Business Operations & Strategy Partner for Production Operations (ProdOps), you will be the linchpin between strategic vision and operational execution. This role demands a unique blend of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and communication expertise to drive organizational effectiveness across our rapidly scaling manufacturing and operations teams.

Working directly with the VP of ProdOps, you will architect and maintain the infrastructure that enables our organization to operate at scale while maintaining agility. You'll oversee the strategic planning processes that translate our ambitious mission into executable priorities, build the mechanisms that drive accountability and results, and ensure our workforce remains aligned and engaged through sophisticated communication strategies. This position requires someone who can toggle seamlessly between high-level strategy and tactical execution, with the business acumen to identify operational opportunities and the practical skills to implement solutions.

Key job responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership (40%)
- Serve as principal strategic advisor to the VP of ProdOps, providing data-driven recommendations on operational efficiency and strategic initiatives
- Architect and optimize the ProdOps rhythm of business, including integration of strategic planning cycles, operational reviews, and governance mechanisms
- Lead the development and execution of ProdOps' strategic roadmap, translating high-level objectives into actionable priorities and measurable outcomes
- Orchestrate cross-organizational alignment through strategic relationship management with key partners including Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and other critical functions
- Drive strategic decision-making through development of business cases, scenario planning, and risk assessment frameworks
- Partner with leadership to identify and remove operational barriers to execution

Business Operations Excellence (30%)
- Design and maintain sophisticated business mechanisms that drive organizational performance and accountability
- Lead end-to-end strategic planning processes, including annual operating plan development, quarterly business reviews, and goal-setting frameworks
- Develop comprehensive measurement systems that track operational effectiveness and strategic initiative outcomes
- Drive operational excellence through standardization of processes, documentation of best practices, and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with Finance, HR, and other functions to optimize resource allocation and investment strategies
- Create and maintain scalable operations frameworks that support rapid organizational growth

Communications & Engagement Strategy (30%)
- Develop and execute sophisticated multi-channel communication strategies that drive understanding and alignment across all organizational levels
- Design and implement change management frameworks for major organizational initiatives, including measurement of adoption and effectiveness
- Create compelling executive communications, including presentations, speeches, and strategic narratives that articulate vision and drive engagement
- Oversee development and maintenance of internal communication platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and optimal information flow
- Build and maintain robust feedback mechanisms to measure communication effectiveness
- Lead the planning and execution of high-impact organizational events including leadership offsites, town halls, and strategic planning sessions
- 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 7+ years of program or project management experience
- 7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Strategic planning and business operations- Experience delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality
- MBA
- Experience in manufacturing, operations, or aerospace environments
- Strong background in change management and organizational effectiveness
- Track record of success in high-growth, dynamic environments
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
- Experience with business intelligence tools and data analysis
- Excellence in stakeholder management and influence without authority
- Experience working in regulated industries or with sensitive information

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
