Uber is seeking a Senior Research Scientist for their Experimentation Science team to develop and implement statistical methodologies for experimentation. You'll work with Python and have a strong background in statistical analysis. This role requires a Ph.D. and 4+ years of industry experience.
You hold a Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field, with a focus on statistical or econometric methodology. You have a strong ability to use Python to work efficiently at scale with large data sets, including exploratory data analysis, model prototyping, statistical analysis, and simulations. Your advanced knowledge of experimental design and statistical methods allows you to contribute effectively to the team. With over 4 years of post-PhD industry experience, you have a proven track record in developing experimentation methodologies and building experimentation platforms. You are also experienced in production-level software development and have demonstrated technical leadership in your previous roles.
In this role, you will develop and implement statistical and econometric methodologies to improve the validity, power, and generalizability of results. You will guide and assist customer teams throughout the experimentation lifecycle, addressing business questions through effective experiment design and implementation. Your expertise will be crucial in making appropriate methodological choices for analysis and interpreting results. You will educate peers about experimentation best practices and pitfalls through presentations, documentation, and discussions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that the experimentation platform meets the needs of the entire Uber ecosystem, ultimately powering business decisions across the organization.
