Security Software Engineer, Infrastructure Security (Staff or Senior)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in security software engineering, with a strong focus on designing and implementing security controls in cloud environments. Your expertise spans AWS, Azure, and GCP, and you are well-versed in Linux security mechanisms such as AppArmor and SELinux. You have a solid understanding of Kubernetes and eBPF, enabling you to enforce runtime policies effectively. You are skilled in developing APIs and automation tools that manage security posture at scale, and you have experience integrating security into CI/CD workflows using Terraform.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with Site Reliability Engineering and other engineering teams to define secure architectures. You have a proven track record of leading complex projects from inception to completion, demonstrating your ability to manage end-to-end processes and ensure long-term ownership of security initiatives. You are passionate about adhering to the highest security standards and continuously improving security practices within your organization.

Desirable

Experience with vulnerability management and workload identity is a plus. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana and Splunk will enhance your ability to provide comprehensive security solutions. You are proactive in identifying potential security risks and are committed to implementing effective mitigation strategies.

What you'll do

As a Senior Security Software Engineer at MongoDB, you will design and build core security primitives and services that protect MongoDB Atlas across multi-cloud infrastructures. You will collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure that security controls are integrated seamlessly into the development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include building secure-by-default infrastructure using advanced Linux security mechanisms and Kubernetes, as well as developing automation tools that enhance security posture management.

You will lead complex projects, guiding them from problem discovery through design and implementation. Your role will involve defining secure architectures for new infrastructure and services, ensuring that security is a fundamental aspect of all engineering efforts. You will also be responsible for integrating security into CI/CD workflows, ensuring that security controls are versioned and deployed alongside application code.

In addition, you will provide monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities that integrate with existing tooling, enabling the team to maintain a robust security posture. You will work closely with Site Reliability Engineering and product engineering teams to foster a culture of security awareness and best practices across the organization.
