You have a proven track record in educational design and leadership, with experience in developing innovative learning solutions that engage and motivate learners. Your expertise in pedagogy allows you to set a clear vision for educational content, ensuring it meets the needs of diverse learners. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to translate educational theories into practical applications. You are passionate about education and have a strong desire to make learning accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively to various stakeholders. Your analytical mindset helps you drive data-informed decisions, ensuring that learning outcomes are measurable and impactful. You are comfortable leading a team, mentoring designers, and fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation. You understand the importance of A/B testing and are skilled at analyzing results to refine educational strategies.

Desirable

Experience in the fields of Math, Music, or Chess education would be a significant advantage. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and tools is also beneficial, as is a background in curriculum development. You are open to feedback and continuously seek to improve your skills and those of your team.

What you'll do

As the Director of Learning Design, you will be responsible for establishing the pedagogical vision for Duolingo's new subjects, including Math, Music, and Chess. You will lead a talented team of learning designers, guiding them in creating engaging and effective educational content that aligns with Duolingo's mission. Your role will involve collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure that learning experiences are seamlessly integrated into the app.

You will drive an experiment-led practice within your team, helping to design and implement A/B tests that measure the effectiveness of learning interventions. By aligning on success metrics, you will assist in analyzing the impact of these tests on learner engagement and outcomes. Your leadership will be crucial in establishing content quality systems, including guidelines and review workflows, to maintain high standards across all educational materials.

You will also play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation within your team, encouraging creative problem-solving and the exploration of new ideas. Your ability to mentor and develop your team will be essential in leveling up their skills and effectiveness, ensuring that they are equipped to tackle the challenges of designing for diverse learners.
