Senior Backend Software Engineer

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in Java and Spring — you've shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture and testing strategies. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and data scientists, to create innovative solutions that enhance user experiences. You understand the importance of building robust frameworks and features that empower both developers and users alike. What you'll do

In this role, you will build out the backend for Pinner-facing features that power the future of inspiration on Pinterest. You will partner closely with design, product, and backend teams to develop and implement new technologies and experiences as Pinterest scales and evolves. Your responsibilities will include designing and optimizing APIs, ensuring high performance and reliability, and collaborating with other engineers to enhance the overall architecture of the platform. You will also be involved in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and improvement within the team. As you drive new initiatives, you will see them through technical design, implementation, and release, making a significant impact on the user experience.
