Overview

Dropbox is hiring an Associate Product Counsel to provide legal guidance on user privacy and data protection. You'll work closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams, leveraging your expertise in AI and machine learning. This role requires 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 1-3 years of experience counseling on product, security, or data issues — you've navigated complex legal landscapes and understand the nuances of privacy regulations. Your background includes supporting SaaS or AI businesses, either in-house or as outside counsel, which has equipped you with a solid understanding of the technology sector. You are adept at analyzing legal responsibilities and driving regulatory responses, ensuring that your advice is both practical and effective. Your interpersonal skills allow you to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, and you thrive in environments that require sophisticated judgment and analytical rigor.

Desirable

Experience managing incident response and broader security program matters is a plus — you understand the importance of being proactive in addressing potential issues before they escalate. Your passion for technology drives you to stay updated on the latest trends in AI and machine learning, allowing you to provide informed counsel on these rapidly evolving areas. You are located in the Pacific Time Zone, which aligns with the team's operational hours.

What you'll do

As an Associate Product Counsel at Dropbox, you will counsel on user privacy and data protection issues in a dynamic environment — your role will involve investigating and assessing security and privacy incidents, ensuring that Dropbox maintains its reputation as an industry leader in protecting user data. You will provide legal support to the incident response program, addressing a wide range of business issues beyond just security and privacy. Your responsibilities will include advising on cross-functional projects related to data protection and privacy by design, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated into product development from the outset.

You will review new products and features for launch readiness, providing sophisticated advice to engineers working on security, threat intelligence, and abuse issues. Your contributions will help shape Dropbox's approach to privacy and security, ensuring that the company not only complies with legal requirements but also leads the industry in best practices. You will collaborate closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams, leveraging your legal expertise to guide decision-making and strategy.

What we offer

Dropbox offers a competitive compensation package, with salaries ranging from $166,800 to $225,600 depending on your location within the United States. You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and innovative environment, where your contributions will have a direct impact on the company's success. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be just what we need to enhance our team. Join us in our mission to protect user data and implement privacy by design in all our products.
