Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to un-served and under-served communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
As the Principal Program Manager for Kuiper Strategic Products, you will be responsible for driving the roadmap definition, work backwards timeline, end-to-end testing and launch orchestration for our most critical systems. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional cross-functional leadership skills. You will work closely with various teams including product, engineering, business operations, legal, accounting, compliance, and finance to ensure seamless execution of our ambitious plans.

Key Responsibilities:

- Own and manage the end-to-end testing and launch processes for strategic Kuiper products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive program plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.

- Drive cross-organizational alignment by facilitating communication and collaboration between diverse teams such as product, engineering, business operations, legal, accounting, compliance, and finance.

- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that could impact the successful testing and launch of Kuiper products.

- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and ensure program objectives are met on time and within budget.

- Lead regular status meetings and provide executive-level updates on program progress, challenges, and successes.

- Collaborate with the product team to ensure that testing and launch processes align with overall product strategy and customer requirements.

- Work closely with the engineering team to resolve technical challenges and optimize product performance throughout the testing phase.

- Coordinate with business operations to ensure smooth integration of new products into existing operational frameworks.

- Liaise with legal, accounting, and compliance teams to address regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to all relevant laws and standards.

- Partner with the finance team to ensure requirement adherence throughout the testing and launch processes.

- Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscapes in the satellite communications sector.


Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
Own the end-to-end delivery of high-impact programs, from strategic planning through execution and post-launch operations.
Partner with engineering, hardware, software, operations, supply chain, finance, legal, and other stakeholders to define program scope, schedules, and milestones.
Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk, and drive trade-off decisions to ensure program success.
Develop detailed program plans, status reports, and executive updates to ensure alignment across leadership.
Drive stakeholder alignment and ensure timely communication of progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Lead process improvements to scale delivery, improve velocity, and reduce complexity across the org.- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.
- 8+ years of program or project management experience in technology, aerospace, or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale, cross-functional programs.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and high judgment in ambiguous situations.- MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in satellite, aerospace, or telecommunications industries.
- Experience operating in a highly technical and fast-paced environment.
- Passion for Amazon’s mission and Kuiper’s goal of expanding global connectivity.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
