Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have faced the challenges of debugging complex distributed systems. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where customer focus is paramount, and you are relentless in pursuing excellence in your craft. You are comfortable working in a fully remote setup and can effectively communicate and collaborate with a distributed team.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus, as well as familiarity with microservices architecture. What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Submission Processing Team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust backend systems that support our AI Underwriting Platform. You will collaborate closely with product managers and frontend engineers to define and deliver features that enhance user experience and drive client satisfaction. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and conducting code reviews to ensure high-quality standards across the team. You will also participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the overall technical direction of the product. Monitoring system performance and optimizing for scalability will be key aspects of your responsibilities, as will troubleshooting and resolving production issues as they arise. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers.
