You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable production systems — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of distributed systems. Your expertise in C# and .NET Core is deep, and you've shipped high-quality APIs that handle millions of requests seamlessly. You are familiar with Azure services and understand how to leverage cloud capabilities to enhance application performance. Your experience with REST APIs and SQL databases allows you to design efficient data models and optimize queries for performance. You thrive in collaborative environments, effectively communicating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. You possess a strong desire to learn and grow, always seeking to improve your skills and contribute to team success.

Desirable

Experience with real-time communication systems or video conferencing technologies would be a plus, as well as familiarity with Agile methodologies. A background in service management and data engineering can further enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the IC3 team, you will play a crucial role in empowering Microsoft’s first-party real-time conversation products. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing backend services that provide reliable audio and video calling, meetings, and chat functionalities. You will work closely with product managers and other engineers to understand user needs and translate them into technical requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring the scalability and reliability of services that support hundreds of millions of users. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to uphold high-quality standards. You will monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring that every call, meeting, or chat is seamless and enhances user experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers.
