Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in aerospace engineering or a related field, with experience in developing airborne systems that meet rigorous military standards. As a first-level people leader, you excel in providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative environment for your team. You are hands-on and enjoy working directly with engineers to solve complex problems related to avionics and mission autonomy. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is key to your success in this role.

You understand the intricacies of airborne mission systems and have a proven track record of delivering robust, mission-ready platforms. Your experience includes working with various technologies that enable reliable operation in both ground and flight test environments. You are passionate about ensuring that systems are not only functional but also optimized for performance and reliability.

Desirable

Experience with Department of Defense projects or similar high-stakes environments is a plus. Familiarity with avionics systems, communications, and sensor integration will set you apart. You are also open to mentoring junior engineers and helping them grow in their careers.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery and integration of airborne mission systems, ensuring that they meet the operational requirements set forth by the Department of Defense. You will lead a team of engineers, providing day-to-day guidance and support as they work on various aspects of the airborne infrastructure. Your hands-on approach will involve direct involvement in the design, build, and testing phases of the aircraft development process.

You will own the technical execution of the air segment, ensuring that all systems are ready for ground and flight tests. This includes overseeing the avionics, compute, and communication systems that enable mission autonomy and the operation of payloads and weapons systems. You will collaborate closely with other teams to ensure that all components work seamlessly together.

Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining a high standard of quality and reliability in the systems developed. You will also be responsible for identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes. Regular communication with stakeholders will be essential to keep everyone informed of progress and any challenges that arise.
