Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain management, or commodity management within the semiconductor or hardware technology industry.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements with silicon providers.
  • Experience with x86, ARM SoC, or GPU architectures and the broader silicon ecosystem.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree in a technical or business field.
  • Understanding of silicon cost modeling and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven track record of managing mission-critical projects with limited oversight.
  • Ability to maintain established industry relationships and an understanding of the engaged landscape in the high-performance compute and Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerator market.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executive-level audiences.
Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.

As a Global Commodity Manager (GCM) for Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and Central Processing Unit (CPU) Sourcing, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for Google’s critical compute infrastructure. You will manage the end-to-end supply chain and commercial relationships for GPUs, x86, and ARM-based System on a Chip (SoCs), ensuring Google has the technology and capacity needed to power its next generation of AI and cloud services. You will leverage your industry knowledge and proven relationships with key industry players to negotiate multi-year agreements. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and Finance teams to deliver cost-effective, high-performance silicon solutions that align with our long-term hardware roadmap.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure roadmap readiness while influencing supplier and internal leadership to align on long-term objectives.
  • Deliver on expected cost-saving goals and implement risk management strategies to ensure assurance of supply for mission-critical components.
  • Lead the negotiation of Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) and development contracts with minimal oversight to secure favorable terms.
  • Manage a portfolio of Tier-1 silicon suppliers, driving continuous performance improvement through proactive ownership independently.
  • Establish and execute procurement strategies for GPUs and SoCs (x86, ARM) that deliver technical advantage and significant value.
