Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer II for the Azure Kubernetes Service team to advance container management and orchestration services. You'll work with Azure and Kubernetes to improve quality and accelerate development velocity. This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and 2+ years of technical engineering experience.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least 2 years of technical engineering experience. You are excited about containers and container orchestration with Kubernetes, and you have a passion for building DevOps tools that simplify the process of building, deploying, and scaling software on the Azure cloud. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to continuous improvement in both your work and the team's processes.

You understand the importance of balancing pragmatism with vision, and you are dedicated to delivering continuous improvements to the team's codebase. You have experience in coding with various programming languages and are comfortable working on both Linux and Windows platforms. Your technical skills are complemented by your ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and a strong understanding of Azure services will set you apart. Familiarity with automation tools and practices that prevent service problems from escalating into production incidents is a plus. You are always eager to learn and grow, and you are open to feedback that helps you improve your skills and contributions.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer II on the Azure Kubernetes Service team, you will advance the capabilities of Kubernetes and its auxiliary components on Azure. Your primary responsibility will be to improve the quality of service for Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service, ensuring that it meets the high standards expected by users. You will work closely with other engineers to accelerate development velocity, helping to streamline processes and enhance productivity.

You will build automation tools that help prevent and remediate service problems, ensuring that incidents do not escalate into larger issues. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to define the next generation of cloud-native infrastructure on Azure, contributing to the overall vision of the team.

You will also participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and helping to maintain high coding standards within the team. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Azure Kubernetes Service, and you will have the opportunity to innovate and implement new features that enhance the user experience.
