Google is hiring a Data Center Facilities Technician I, Mechanical to support the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems in data centers. You'll work with HVAC systems and ensure optimal facility conditions. This role requires 2 years of mechanical experience in an industrial environment.
You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of mechanical or HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are familiar with the challenges of maintaining complex systems. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and you understand the importance of safety equipment and ergonomic guidelines. You are willing to work non-standard hours and shifts, demonstrating flexibility in your schedule.
You have additional experience in the maintenance of mechanical or cooling distribution systems, ideally within data centers, hospitals, or power plants. Your knowledge of mechanical systems used in data center environments, such as chillers, air handling units, and pumps, sets you apart. You are comfortable using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting with standard hand tools and calibration equipment.
In this role, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of Google’s data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of water pumps, treatment systems, and HVAC systems. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new mechanical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, collaborating closely with contractors and other team members.
