You'll work with backend engineers to tackle complex technical challenges using Java and distributed systems. This role requires strong leadership and technical expertise.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in engineering management, particularly in backend engineering, where you've successfully led teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Your background includes a deep understanding of distributed systems and the challenges that come with scaling complex platforms. You thrive in environments that require collaboration across cross-functional teams, and you have a proven track record of driving technical vision and strategy. You are passionate about logistics and understand the intricacies of fulfillment operations, which allows you to guide your team effectively through technical challenges.

Your expertise in Java and related technologies enables you to engage deeply with your team, providing technical guidance while also fostering an environment of innovation and growth. You are skilled at mentoring engineers, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers. You understand the importance of building a reliable and extensible platform, and you are excited about the opportunity to lead initiatives that enhance the performance and scalability of logistics systems.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus, as is familiarity with agile methodologies. You are comfortable with data-driven decision-making and have experience in using metrics to guide your team's efforts. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential for success in this role.

What you'll do

As the Engineering Manager for the Logistics Platform team, you will lead a group of talented backend engineers in designing and developing a next-generation fulfillment platform. Your responsibilities will include setting the technical direction for the team, ensuring that the platform can handle diverse logistics workflows and scale seamlessly with customer demand. You will collaborate closely with product managers and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable engineering tasks.

You will drive initiatives that enhance the reliability and performance of the platform, tackling high-visibility technical challenges that impact the entire logistics ecosystem. Your role will involve regular code reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on problem-solving to ensure that your team is delivering exceptional quality across all operations. You will also be responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging your team to innovate and experiment with new technologies and approaches.

In addition to technical leadership, you will play a key role in team building and career development, conducting regular one-on-ones with team members to support their growth and address any challenges they may face. You will work to create an inclusive and collaborative team environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best work.
