Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Production Operations Engineer to support the functional checkouts of Starship/Superheavy vehicles. You'll work on testing efficiency and safety, requiring a background in engineering and experience with fluid systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and have 2+ years of project and/or professional experience with fluid systems. Your background includes a strong understanding of vehicle construction and avionics/propulsion architecture, allowing you to interface effectively with both engineering and technicians in the field. You thrive in environments that require troubleshooting hardware issues in real-time and driving feedback to correct owners to eliminate repeat issues. Your experience includes creating, reading, and interpreting electrical and fluid schematics, showcasing your systems engineering capabilities. You are motivated by the mission of enabling human life on Mars and are eager to contribute to SpaceX's long-term goals.

Desirable

An advanced degree in mechanical engineering is preferred, as is experience working in fast-paced environments. You have a keen interest in improving testing efficiency and safety of vehicle testing, and you are familiar with leading hazardous testing operations to validate vehicle builds. Your ability to establish test criteria and pass/fail requirements for integrated vehicle checkouts is a significant asset.

What you'll do

As a Production Operations Engineer, you will directly support functional checkouts of Starship/Superheavy vehicles, helping SpaceX achieve its long-term goal of colonizing Mars. You will establish test criteria and pass/fail requirements for integrated vehicle checkouts, ensuring that all systems are built per design intent. Your role will involve leading hazardous testing operations to validate vehicle builds, performing pressurized checkouts, and conducting electrical/sensor checkouts via control console. You will develop procedures and processes for ‘first-article’ validation, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of vehicle testing. Additionally, you will troubleshoot hardware issues in real-time and provide feedback to the appropriate teams to eliminate repeat issues. Your deep understanding of vehicle construction and avionics/propulsion architecture will be crucial as you interface with both engineering and technicians in the field.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration. You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that aim to make human life on Mars a reality. The company fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration, where your contributions will directly impact the future of space exploration. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in our mission to explore the stars and make history.
