HubSpot is hiring a Staff Engineer to support their Infrastructure Edge team, focusing on load balancing and CDN infrastructure. You'll work on large-scale distributed systems and provide technical leadership. This role requires extensive experience in building reliable and scalable systems.
You are an experienced Staff Engineer with a strong background in building and operating large-scale distributed systems. You have a proven track record of designing and delivering complex, performant, reliable, and scalable infrastructure solutions in a cloud environment. Your hands-on technical skills are complemented by your ability to provide mentorship and technical leadership to your team, guiding them through design, development, and operations.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with small teams to maximize ownership and minimize communication overhead. Your empathetic approach to engineering allows you to connect with your team members and foster a supportive atmosphere where everyone can grow. You are passionate about performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in infrastructure, understanding that these elements are crucial to the success of both HubSpot and its customers.
You have experience with load balancing and CDN technologies, and you are comfortable working with various cloud platforms. Your technical expertise is matched by your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned on project goals and expectations.
Experience with specific cloud providers and their services is a plus, as is familiarity with monitoring and performance optimization tools. You may also have experience in leading projects that involve cross-functional collaboration, helping to bridge the gap between engineering, product, and operations teams.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and operating HubSpot’s load balancing and CDN infrastructure, which serves billions of requests daily. You will spend approximately 90% of your time on hands-on technical contributions, working directly on the systems that support HubSpot’s internal engineering teams and customers. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of the infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the needs of over 200,000 customers across more than 100 countries.
You will lead a small team of engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship to help them grow in their roles. This includes overseeing the design and development of new features, as well as optimizing existing systems for better performance and scalability. You will also be involved in incident response and troubleshooting, ensuring that any issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
Collaboration is key in this role, and you will work closely with other engineering teams to understand their needs and how the infrastructure can best support them. You will participate in design reviews and technical discussions, contributing your expertise to help shape the direction of the infrastructure projects.
HubSpot offers a flexible remote work environment, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States. You will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration and innovation, with opportunities for professional growth and development. HubSpot is committed to helping its employees succeed, providing resources and support to help you achieve your career goals. You will also have access to a range of benefits designed to support your well-being and work-life balance.
