Overview

Amazon is hiring a Ship Clerk to manage daily operations in the Middle Mile network. You'll be responsible for load planning, flow control, and ensuring on-time performance. This position is entry-level and based in Stoughton, Massachusetts.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. As a Ship Clerk, you will manage daily department duties, ensuring that loads are planned around standard departure times and that trailer utilization is maximized. You have strong communication skills, enabling you to correspond effectively with multiple shipping companies and their contacts. You are comfortable using various shipping software to track packages and troubleshoot any shipping problems that arise. Your ability to allocate labor and lead meetings will be essential in this role.

You understand the importance of safety, quality, productivity, and on-time performance in the shipping industry. You are proactive in escalating any barriers to your Operations Leaders and work collaboratively to mitigate issues impacting safety and performance. You are committed to executing standard work processes and maintaining load level performance tracking for load planning and on-time dock performance.

Desirable

Experience in logistics or supply chain management is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with load flow control and quality assurance processes will help you excel in this role.

What you'll do

As a Ship Clerk at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in the Middle Mile network. Your primary responsibilities will include planning loads, controlling load flow, and ensuring proper trailer utilization. You will assign job duties to team members and provide work direction, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. You will communicate with both internal and external partners to coordinate trailers to corresponding dock doors and cross docks.

You will troubleshoot shipping problems and errors, working diligently to resolve issues that may impact on-time performance. Your role will also involve maintaining load level performance tracking, which is vital for load planning and ensuring that all shipments are executed on schedule. You will assist in updating staging processes and resource allocation to optimize operations.

In this position, you will lead meetings to discuss daily management of department duties and collaborate with your team to ensure that all operational goals are met. Your ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team will be essential in driving success within the department.
