SpaceX is hiring an Automation & Controls Technician to install and commission automation assets for the Starship project. You'll work with electrical and pneumatic control systems and assist in troubleshooting existing assets. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
You have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate and at least 1 year of experience in a controls technician role, or you possess an associate degree in automation & controls. You are familiar with electrical and pneumatic automated control systems and have a strong understanding of the relevant codes such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A. Your background may include training from an occupational trade school in an electrical-based field, which has equipped you with the skills necessary for this role. You are detail-oriented and capable of modifying and troubleshooting simple PLC software, ensuring that all installations meet the required standards.
As an Automation & Controls Technician at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of new automation assets, including building control panels according to schematics. You will work closely with external vendors to ensure the successful installation of these panels and will modify and update existing tooling as needed. Your role will also involve troubleshooting and assisting with the maintenance of existing assets, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently. You will be expected to communicate daily with engineering teams, customers, and other stakeholders to promote early risk mitigation during installations. Additionally, you will be an advocate for the 5S principles, helping to maintain organized and efficient workspaces.
