Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 4 years of experience leading projects, and providing technical leadership.
  • 3 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Experience with Cloud compute platforms (Kubernetes, Cloud Functions).
  • Experience with Non-Abstract Large Systems Design.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.

Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. On the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the issues of scale which are unique to Google Cloud, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. In this role, you will be a key lead in enhancing the reliability of Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), a new product that lets customers run Google managed Kubernetes clusters on-premise, Google Distributed Cloud air-gapped (GDCag) is offering designed as a converged hardware, software solution for customers (e.g., Public Sector, Finance) with the most stringent data residency, security, compliance, and privacy requirements, operating completely disconnected from Google Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Take on ambiguous problems and drive solutions across the SRE and DEV organizations.
  • Identify reliability, scalability and efficiency gaps, propose programs to address them, get buy-in and drive them to success.
  • Cultivate and maintain a culture of reliability throughout the GDC air-gapped organization.
  • Guide technical decisions, balancing the need for a reliable system and efficient incident response with highly dynamic, customer priorities.
  • Ensure the long-term health, maintainability, and reliability of services.
