We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and strategic Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) who will be comfortable diving into complex problems and using data to recommend business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus and perspective to drive strategy in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

This role will partner closely with the business teams to understand the data-needs of the team and ensure that the business teams are able to answer hard questions with real data. This individual will participate in business reviews and new-initiatives. They should be able to identify and help close gaps in the information available, as well as predict up-and-coming data needs when participating in discussions about new products or features.

Key job responsibilities
Data Collection and Integration:
- Gather data from various sources (databases, APIs, files, etc.)
- Design and implement data integration processes
- Ensure data quality and consistency across systems
Data Modeling and Optimization:
- Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Write complex SQLs to convert raw data to meaningful metrics
- Optimize SQLs for improved performance
Report and Dashboard Development:
- Design and create reports and dashboards using BI tools (e.g., AWS QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
- Develop interactive visualizations to present data effectively
- Ensure reports are accurate & user-friendly
Data Analysis:
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights
- Develop and implement statistical models and algorithms
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements
- Translate business needs into technical specifications
- Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
Data Governance and Security:
- Ensure data security and compliance with regulations
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest BI tools and technologies
- Automate processes where possible to increase efficiency
Documentation and Training:
- Create and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and reports
- Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and dashboards
Problem-solving:
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies and technical issues
- Develop solutions to complex data-related problems
Data Strategy:
- Contribute to the organization's overall data strategy
- Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business value- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience writing complex SQL queries
- Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
