Job Description

The Domains DNS team is the bedrock of that mission. We build and operate the foundational services that make online identity possible. We are responsible for the management of each domain name on our platform, from registration to serving billions of DNS queries that connect their audience to their content. We believe that managing a domain should be simple, secure, and incredibly reliable.. This is a hybrid role working from our New York City office 3 days per week.

You'll Get To...

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and performant backend services and APIs , using Java.
  • Lead technical design discussions, propose solutions, and make informed architectural decisions that align with our overall strategy.
  • Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to translate product requirements into technical specifications and deliver impactful product experiences.
  • Set a standard of technical excellence through RFC reviews and the code review process
  • Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and foster a culture of technical excellence within the team.

Who We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of backend software development, building scalable and distributed systems in cloud environments (e.g. GCP, AWS)
  • 4+ years of development experience in Java and Spring
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases such as CockroachDB, MongoDB
  • Familiarity with queuing or streaming technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, AMQP
  • Nice to have, but not required: Understanding of how a domain works (DNS, TLDs, domain registration processes, WHOIS, etc.).

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 – $231,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary.
