Data Engineer, Sub Same Day (SSD) Engineering

Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing an analytical environment using third-party and in-house reporting tools, modeling metadata, building reports and dashboards. as well as dataset management. You will get the unique opportunity to work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including Industrial Design Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Supply Chain Managers, and other Program Management teams. The candidate will also be in charge of driving strategic initiatives to improve reporting efficiency, develop new bridging workflow tools and establish new key performance metrics where appropriate. This role is on the engineering planning team that supports a wide range of businesses including Sub Same Day, Rural, and Super Rural, etc. This role has great exposure to broad scope that can really help shape the future of operational fulfillment and promotes career progression.
The ideal candidate will not only raise the bar on Data engineering skills but demonstrates a strong curiosity to understand the business end-to-end and be comfortable working with ambiguity. The candidate will also have an eye for detail, be proficient/advanced in SQL/DWH/Python and invent for solving data and reporting challenges. The role requires good communication skills with other functional teams.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure using AWS technologies
- Build robust and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines using SQL, and AWS data storage technologies like Aurora, Red Shift etc.
- Design and develop Analytics applications using modern scripting languages (Python, R, PHP, etc) supporting critical business functions.
- Collect and convert functional and business requirements into solutions that are operable, scalable, and well-suited to the overall data.
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.
- Engage in all phases of the development life cycle, including design, implementation, testing, delivery, documentation, support, and maintenance.
- Lead architecture design and implementation of next generation BI solution
- Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service modeling and production support for customers.

- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
