Nuro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop autonomous vehicle hardware and systems. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to design and integrate components for next-generation vehicles. This role requires experience in engineering development and collaboration with internal and external teams.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in the development of hardware systems for autonomous vehicles. Your experience includes owning engineering specifications, architecture, and design processes, ensuring that all components meet the required standards. You are proficient in using CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to create detailed 3D models and drawings that facilitate the integration of hardware systems into vehicles.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with internal teams and external partners to bring innovative ideas to life. Your ability to conduct feasibility studies and generate creative solutions is complemented by your attention to detail and commitment to quality. You understand the importance of integrating aesthetic and functional design elements into your work, ensuring that the final products are both visually appealing and highly functional.

You are familiar with the manufacturing process and have experience collaborating with manufacturing teams to bring components into production. Your strong communication skills enable you to effectively convey complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences, fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration.

Desirable

Experience with autonomous vehicle technology and a passion for innovation in the automotive industry are highly desirable. Familiarity with project lifecycle management and data exchange processes with OEM partners will set you apart. You are eager to contribute to a workplace that values psychological safety and inclusion, and you are committed to continuous learning and professional development.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own portions of the engineering development for autonomous vehicle hardware, focusing on systems, structural components, and integration solutions. You will be responsible for the engineering specification, targets, and architecture of AV hardware, ensuring that all components are designed to meet rigorous standards. Your work will involve creating 3D CAD packages and drawings that facilitate the integration of these systems into prototype and production vehicles.

You will collaborate closely with industrial design teams to generate creative ideas and conduct feasibility studies, resulting in designs that are both aesthetic and functional. Your role will also involve assisting AV hardware engineering teams at OEM partners, ensuring that all components are aligned with project goals and timelines.

As part of your responsibilities, you will work with the PLM team to manage CAD and data exchange with OEM and supplier partners, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned throughout the development process. You will also engage with manufacturing teams to support the production of components, addressing any challenges that arise during the transition from design to production.

What we offer

At Nuro, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making autonomy accessible to all. We offer a collaborative work environment that fosters innovation and encourages you to bring your ideas to the table. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that is shaping the future of transportation.

We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. Join us in our mission to empower a safer, richer, and more connected future through autonomous vehicle technology.
