Overview

Relativity is seeking a Manager of Stage Propulsion to lead the design and delivery of fluid systems for their Terran R rocket. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.

Who you are

You have a strong background in engineering management, with experience leading teams in the aerospace or related industries. You understand the complexities of propulsion systems and have a holistic view of integrated design and production processes. Your leadership style fosters autonomy and encourages innovative problem-solving among your team members. You thrive in environments where creativity and technical rigor are essential, and you are passionate about contributing to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology.

You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to collaborate effectively across various teams, including manufacturing, software, and avionics. You are adept at navigating complex challenges and can make informed decisions that align with both technical requirements and business objectives. Your experience includes overseeing projects from conception through to execution, ensuring that all aspects of the design and production process are aligned and optimized for success.

Desirable

Experience in rocket propulsion or aerospace engineering is a plus, as is familiarity with fluid dynamics and system integration. You have a track record of mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team. A background in project management methodologies will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As the Manager of Stage Propulsion, you will lead a team responsible for designing and delivering the propellant, pressurant, pneumatics, and other fluid systems that are critical to the functionality of the Terran R rocket. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of these systems, from initial design through production and testing, ensuring that they meet the rigorous standards required for successful flight operations. Your role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to integrate these systems into the overall rocket design, maintaining a focus on performance, reliability, and safety.

You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the Stage Fluids team, defining project goals, and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet deadlines. You will also play a key role in problem-solving during the development process, addressing any challenges that arise and implementing solutions that drive project success. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of innovation and accountability within your team, empowering engineers to take ownership of their work and contribute to the overall mission of Relativity Space.
