Apple is seeking a Senior SoC Physical Design Engineer to lead physical design implementation from RTL to GDS. You'll work with cross-functional teams on high-performance and low-power designs, utilizing skills in physical design methodologies and tools.
You are a seasoned Physical Design technical leader with deep expertise in high-performance and low-power design. With a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience, you have a strong background in partition level P&R implementation, including floorplanning, clock and power distribution, and timing closure. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a proven track record of successful tapeouts in deep submicron technology. Your experience includes working with large SoC designs exceeding 20 million gates and frequencies above 1GHz, demonstrating your ability to execute to stringent schedule and die size requirements.
You are knowledgeable in physical design construction and analysis flows and methodologies. Your understanding of industry-standard tools and their underlying algorithms enhances your capability to drive methodologies and best-known methods to streamline physical design work. You are motivated to solve challenging timing closure issues and optimize area and power, making you a valuable asset to any team.
In this highly visible role at Apple, you will be responsible for all aspects of physical design implementation from RTL to GDS, including PnR, bump/RDL, STA, physical verification, EMIR, and sign-off. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop efficient chip and IP physical architecture, taking into account physical design constraints early in the design cycle. Your role will involve driving methodologies and developing guidelines and checklists to enhance the physical design process. As the primary technical contact for your focus area, you will tackle complex timing closure issues and work on area and power optimization, ensuring that designs meet performance and efficiency standards.
