Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Falcon team to develop reusable launch vehicles. You'll design structures and fluid systems that withstand extreme conditions. This role requires strong analytical skills and experience in mechanical design.

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in designing complex systems that can endure extreme environments. You thrive in a collaborative setting and are adept at problem-solving using fundamental physics principles. Your technical skills are complemented by your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about space exploration and eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology. You possess a keen analytical mindset and are comfortable taking ownership of hardware throughout its product life cycle.

Desirable

Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is highly desirable, as is familiarity with fluid dynamics and structural analysis. A background in aerospace engineering or experience with launch vehicles would be a significant advantage. You are open to learning and adapting to new challenges, and you enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Design Engineer on the Falcon team, you will lead the design of various components and systems for reusable launch vehicles. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet stringent performance and safety requirements. Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed analyses of structures and fluid systems, creating and reviewing design documentation, and participating in design reviews with senior leadership.
