Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Engineer for the Raptor Components team to develop advanced engine control components. You'll integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems to streamline manufacturing processes. This role requires expertise in hardware engineering and a passion for space technology.

You have a strong background in engineering, particularly in mechanical and electrical systems, with experience in developing components for high-performance applications. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by your ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for innovation, always looking for ways to optimize processes and improve product reliability.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace components or similar high-stakes environments is a plus. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and integration techniques will help you excel in this role. A background in project management or leadership will also be beneficial as you take ownership of your projects and drive them to completion.

What you'll do

As a Propulsion Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing manufacturing and integration processes for components and assemblies in the Raptor engine family. You will question existing requirements and seek to simplify and optimize designs, ensuring that components are delivered efficiently and meet stringent performance criteria. Your role will involve conceptualizing and demonstrating innovative manufacturing processes that support high-volume production while maintaining quality and reliability.

You will collaborate closely with suppliers, customers, and test teams, owning the relationship between your hardware and these stakeholders. This will require you to provide input into vehicle architecture trades and take a lead role in design and flight readiness for the Starship program. You will be expected to analyze and test components in extreme thermal, pressure, and vibration environments, ensuring that they meet the rigorous demands of space travel.

Your contributions will directly impact the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars, and you will have the opportunity to work on projects that push the boundaries of technology and engineering.
