Google is seeking a Senior Director of Data Center Research and Development Engineering to lead the design and incubation of global data center components. This role requires extensive experience in engineering leadership and managing large teams.
You have a Master's degree in a relevant Engineering field or equivalent practical experience, along with 20 years of experience as an engineering leader. Your background includes significant experience in data center mechanical, electrical, power, plumbing, controls, and construction methods. You have at least 10 years of experience managing managers, demonstrating your ability to lead large teams effectively. You are well-versed in industry trends and standards related to data centers and IT equipment, and you have a proven track record of designing and implementing sustainable goals. Your leadership style is collaborative, and you thrive in environments where you can inspire and guide teams towards innovative solutions.
As the Senior Director of Research and Development Engineering, you will create an outlook and lead the incubation and design for Google’s global data center components, from the utility to the IT rack. You will challenge the status quo, improving on current designs and optimizing for operating requirements and constraints. In this role, you will leverage Google’s unique strengths by partnering with Construction Delivery, Operations, Platforms, Supply Chain, and broader internal technical teams and external suppliers to analyze, align, and drive programs to completion. You will also collaborate, lead, and inspire design solutions that improve speed to capacity and lower costs while maintaining safety and security governance requirements. Your work will be critical in developing and maintaining Google’s data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms, ensuring that the architecture behind everything users see online is robust and efficient.
