Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in data science, with a strong foundation in machine learning and data analytics. You are proficient in Python and SQL, and you understand how to manipulate large datasets to extract meaningful insights. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decisions. Your analytical mindset allows you to approach complex problems with innovative solutions, and you are passionate about using data to improve business outcomes.

You have experience in developing predictive models and deploying them in production environments. You are familiar with data visualization tools and can effectively communicate your findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of statistical methods and their applications in real-world scenarios. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the ever-evolving field of data science.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus. Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark would be beneficial. You have a background in IoT or connected transportation, which aligns with Geotab's mission to enhance fleet management through data.

What you'll do

As a Senior Data Scientist at Geotab, you will be responsible for analyzing vast amounts of data generated from connected vehicles. You will develop and implement machine learning models to optimize fleet operations, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance driver safety. Your role will involve collaborating with engineering teams to integrate data solutions into Geotab's platform, ensuring that insights are actionable and impactful.

You will conduct experiments to validate your models and continuously improve their performance based on real-world feedback. You will also work closely with product managers to define metrics that measure the success of your initiatives and communicate your findings to stakeholders across the organization.

In addition, you will mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the development of best practices within the data science team. You will participate in code reviews and help establish a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the company.
