Machine learningPython

Overview

Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of systems for manufacturing intelligence. You'll work with Machine Learning and Python to predict manufacturing costs and improve customer solutions. This role requires 8+ years of experience, including technical leadership.

Job Description

Who you are

You have at least 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 4 years in a technical leadership role. You are comfortable adopting a 'lead by example' approach, actively coding and troubleshooting while also creating documentation and technical diagrams. Your experience includes mentoring engineers and guiding them to grow their skills, ensuring that your team is always improving and evolving.

You possess a strong understanding of machine learning principles, even if you do not have extensive prior experience in manufacturing. You are a collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments, and you enjoy working with diverse teams to solve complex problems. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is one of your key strengths.

You are passionate about technology and its potential to transform industries. You stay updated on the latest trends in software engineering and machine learning, and you are eager to apply this knowledge to real-world challenges. You understand the importance of documentation and code reviews, and you take pride in maintaining high standards in your work.

Desirable

Experience with manufacturing processes or systems is a plus, but not a requirement. Familiarity with Python and machine learning frameworks will help you excel in this role. You are open to learning and adapting to new technologies as needed, and you are excited about the opportunity to make a significant impact in a growing company.

What you'll do

As a Principal Software Engineer at Xometry, you will lead the technical design and engineering of systems that predict and remediate challenges in manufacturing. Your role will involve hands-on coding, where you will actively contribute to the development of solutions that combine machine learning model predictions with part geometry and customer information. You will work closely with your team to ensure that the systems you build are robust, scalable, and effective in predicting manufacturing costs.

You will also take on the responsibility of mentoring and guiding engineers across the organization. This includes conducting code reviews, providing feedback, and helping team members develop their skills. Your leadership will foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring that your team is well-equipped to tackle the challenges they face.

In addition to technical leadership, you will be involved in creating documentation and technical diagrams that clearly communicate the architecture and design of the systems you develop. You will work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure that the solutions you build meet the needs of the business and its customers.

What we offer

At Xometry, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is transforming the manufacturing industry. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work on cutting-edge technology and make a real impact in a fast-paced environment. Join us in our mission to connect people with big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life.
