We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Intern Data Governance Analyst to join our data team. This role offers hands-on experience specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies, specifically BigQuery and Dataplex, focusing on ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of our critical data assets.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern, you will work closely with senior Data Engineers and Analysts to:
• Monitor and report on data quality metrics, identifying anomalies, inconsistencies, and gaps in large datasets stored in BigQuery while using DataPlex.
• Assist in troubleshooting data quality issues, investigating root causes, and proposing corrective actions for data pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Scientists, Analysts, Business Stakeholders) to understand data requirements and quality expectations.
• Document data quality processes, rules, and findings to maintain clear data lineage and knowledge sharing.
Data Governance & Compliance:
This section highlights the specialized focus on Dataplex and governance:
• Dataplex Integration: Assist in configuring and managing Google Cloud Dataplex Lakes, Zones, and Assets to ensure logical organization of data across BigQuery and Cloud Storage.
• Metadata Management: Support the effort to catalog and enrich metadata for data assets within Dataplex, making data easily discoverable and understandable.
• Data Lineage: Help track and document the flow and transformation of data (data lineage) to maintain a complete view of data provenance.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong desire for understanding SQL and database concepts.
• Basic understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Preferred (Specialization Focus):
• Exposure to data quality and governance concepts (e.g., completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness).
