Google is seeking a Data Center Technician II to perform assembly, troubleshooting, and maintenance of technical equipment in a data center environment. You'll work with Linux systems and networking protocols, requiring 2 years of relevant experience.
You have experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are willing to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required. You hold a certification in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program and have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols, you have a solid background in working within a data center or network operation center environment. You are adept at collaborating and partnering with teams to overcome challenges and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.
As a Data Center Technician II at Google, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software, including Google's Linux cluster. You will be responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. Your role will involve performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment, ensuring that security issues are handled in accordance with Google security standards. You will disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, working collaboratively in a team setting. Additionally, you will repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance.
