Overview

Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician to operate and maintain electrical systems in their data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 2 years of electrical experience in a technical environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With at least 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are familiar with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, while adhering to safety guidelines and using personal protective equipment (PPE). You are flexible and able to work non-standard hours and shifts, adapting to the needs of the data center environment.

Desirable

You have additional experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or in a construction or technical environment. Familiarity with data centers, hospitals, or power plants is a plus, as is knowledge of electrical systems used in a data center environment, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. Your ability to communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems is essential.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities systems and equipment within the data center. You will manage the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. Your role will involve responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally. You will also support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the data center operations.
