SpaceX is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for the Starshield project to design and develop complex mechanisms and mechanical systems for cutting-edge satellites. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to support national security efforts.
You have a strong background in mechanical engineering with experience in designing and developing complex mechanical systems — you've worked on projects from conceptual design through production and on-orbit operations. Your expertise includes using tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create detailed designs and simulations. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize system-level performance and meet customer requirements. You are detail-oriented and focused on driving design for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure efficient production processes. You understand the importance of error-proofing and consistent performance metrics in mechanical design. You are passionate about space technology and eager to contribute to projects that support national security.
In this role, you will own the design and development of mechanical systems for SpaceX's Starshield project — this includes collaborating on design criteria and driving system-level optimization. You will rapidly iterate on designs and analyses to inform high-level systems trades and steer overall product direction. Your responsibilities will also involve establishing design criteria and collaborating with other engineers to ensure that all requirements are met. You will focus on creating elegant designs that minimize piece part and process count while ensuring consistent performance metrics. Additionally, you will participate in the integration and testing of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet the rigorous standards required for space applications. You will have the opportunity to work on the architecture, simulation, and controls of electromechanical systems, contributing to the development of the world’s most advanced satellites.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making space exploration a reality. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development. You will work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space technology. Join us in our mission to enable human life on Mars and support national security efforts through advanced satellite technology.
