Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a strong focus on building scalable production systems. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a track record of debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your expertise in Java and Spring is deep — you’ve shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You thrive in cross-functional environments, collaborating with various teams to drive impactful technical contributions. You are resourceful and passionate about reinventing the financial system to better serve individuals living paycheck to paycheck. You understand the importance of real-time financial flexibility and are eager to make a meaningful impact through your work.

Desirable

Experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure would be a plus, as would familiarity with microservices architecture. You are comfortable with REST API design and have a solid understanding of database optimization techniques. What you'll do

As a Senior Staff Engineer at Earnin, you will play a crucial role in shaping the backend architecture of our financial products. Earnin offers a competitive salary range of $251,000 to $306,000, along with equity and benefits.
