Overview

Wikimedia is seeking a Senior Program Officer to implement regional funding programs for Wikimedian communities in Northern & Western Europe. This role involves managing grant portfolios and analyzing community needs. Experience in program management is essential.

Who you are

You have a strong background in program management, ideally with experience in grantmaking or community support. Your understanding of regional geopolitical and cultural contexts allows you to design impactful funding strategies that align with community needs. You are skilled in analyzing patterns and trends to inform funding priorities, ensuring that your work contributes to the Wikimedia Movement's goals of Knowledge Equity.

You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including volunteers and affiliates. Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ensures that you can implement and monitor grant portfolios efficiently. You are committed to proactive outreach and understand the importance of supporting underrepresented communities.

Desirable

Experience working in non-profit organizations or with community-driven initiatives is a plus. Familiarity with Wikimedia projects or similar platforms will enhance your ability to connect with the communities you serve. You are adaptable and open to learning, always seeking ways to improve your strategies and impact.

What you'll do

In this role, you will implement the Community Resources grantmaking strategy, ensuring alignment with the Wikimedia Foundation's mission. You will analyze regional and global patterns to shape funding rationales and priorities, designing program activities that achieve significant, scalable impact. Your responsibilities will include managing the regional grant portfolio, leading annual grant planning, and monitoring the implementation of funded projects.

You will collaborate with colleagues to identify community needs and opportunities, facilitating the development of programs that support Wikimedian communities. Your analytical skills will be crucial in assessing the effectiveness of funding initiatives and making data-driven decisions to enhance their impact. You will also engage with community members to gather feedback and insights, ensuring that their voices are heard in the funding process.
