Site Reliability Engineer - Systems (7-10 years)

Who you are

You have 7-10 years of experience in site reliability engineering, focusing on maintaining and improving the reliability of large-scale systems. You possess a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and have hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes. Your expertise in Linux systems allows you to troubleshoot and optimize performance effectively.

You are proficient in programming languages such as Python and Java, enabling you to automate processes and develop tools that enhance system reliability. Your experience with monitoring tools equips you to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users. You understand incident management processes and have a track record of leading post-mortem analyses to improve system resilience.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with development teams to integrate reliability into the software development lifecycle. You are passionate about building frameworks that support high availability and scalability, and you enjoy mentoring junior engineers to foster a culture of reliability within the team.

Desirable

Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation is a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices will help you excel in this role. You are also open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving landscape of site reliability engineering.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of PhonePe's fintech infrastructure, which supports millions of transactions daily. You will design and implement monitoring solutions that provide visibility into system health and performance metrics. Your work will involve collaborating with software engineers to build reliable systems and automate operational tasks.

You will lead incident response efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues swiftly and effectively. You will also participate in on-call rotations, ensuring that you are available to address critical incidents as they arise.
