Job Description

Your primary responsibility as a Survey Research Scientist on the Reputation Marketing & Insights team will be to provide research support for a global reputation tracking survey. You will be responsible for conducting basic and advanced modeling on attitudinal and perception-based survey data, as well as developing the mechanisms to ensure statistical rigor in our sampling and weighting practices. You will partner with market researchers, media analysts, and strategists from across our team to dive deep into data, establish strategic territories, and identify audience opportunities in order to guide the broader Communications and Corporate Responsibility (CCR) organization.

The work will challenge you to be resourceful, think big while staying connected to the details, translate advanced analytics into strategic direction, and embrace a high degree of change and ambiguity at speed. The scope and scale of what we strive to achieve is immense, but it is also meaningful and energizing. This is an individual contributor role.

Key job responsibilities
- Conduct basic and advanced modeling on survey data (e.g., Chi-square, regression, etc.)
- Write code to generate data tables and charts
- Develop experiments to improve survey design, data quality, and drive causal learnings
- Identify opportunities to simplify existing research processes and operate more nimbly
- Manage the vendor data ingestion pipeline and partner with data engineers to launch and maintain a data dashboard
- Scale learnings and insights to other teams in CCR and the broader Amazon marketing and communications community
- Identify messaging opportunities and inform communication strategies that will bolster Amazon’s reputation


About the team
This team sits within the Communications and Corporate Responsibility (CCR) organization. Our focus is on conducting research that identifies messaging opportunities and informs communication strategies for Amazon as a brand.- PhD in a quantitative field, or MS degree and 2+ years of quantitative field research experience
- Knowledge of R
- Ability to run and interpret statistical models (e.g., regressions, structural equation modeling, etc.)
- 2+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience
- Experience working with and analyzing survey and perception tracking data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate research to executive leaders and audiences that do not have a technical background
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously
- Proven ability to work in an interdependent team and develop processes at scale
- Detail-oriented, with an ability to move fast and adapt to change- Knowledge of SQL
- Experience building data dashboards
- Experience with qualitative research methods and LLM-based analysis techniques
- Knowledge of AWS platforms such as S3, Glue, Athena, Sagemaker
- Knowledge of machine learning
- Experience with research vendor management

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
